Description

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, or “ACT”, is an empirically-based, behavioral intervention and philosophy that has a foundation based in contemplative practices. ACT clinicians work within a philosophical approach to evoking a client’s values as a way of creating a meaningful, valuable pathway towards a better life. ACT has also shown effectiveness in treating substance abuse related behaviors and issues of addiction. ACT clinicians utilize a range of protocols to create an environment focused on acceptance, defusion from internal experiences related to the addiction, with an emphasis on committed action to the client’s values.
